• Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, or self-tanner at least three weeks prior.
• Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen the week before. Inform the clinic if you take blood thinners, aspirin or ibuprofen regularly.
• Avoid alcohol for 48 hours before treatment.
• Inform the clinic if you have taken Accutane in the past year.
• Ice packs may be used after your treatment (alternate on and off).
• Arrive with a clean face- no creams or make-up in the treatment area.
• Advise a history of cold sores, metal plates, rods or screws, lupus, or connective tissue disease.
• Advise of current medication, especially antibiotics which make you photosensitive. Appointment must be rebooked.
• Avoid if pregnant, breast-feeding, on topical or oral antibiotics.

• Skin will be pink (resembling a mild sunburn) for a few hours after your treatment. Skin may be temperature-sensitive for a few days.
• You will be given a cool compress to use after the treatment.
• Do not use scrubs, acids, benzyl peroxide, or Retin-A until the skin is completely healed.
• Brown spots and freckles will appear darker while healing and eventually flake off. Will take 4 to 6 weeks to see the full results, and 2 to 3 treatments may be required for optimum results.
• You may find your cheeks and under-eye area slightly puffy after treatment. Use a cold compress (five minutes on & 10 minutes off) several times an hour to ease the redness and swelling. Sleep with your head elevated the first night to help decrease any swelling you may experience.
• Blistering and crusting are rare; however, if they occur, don't hesitate to get in touch with the clinic for further support.
